In order to provide recent knowledge to the scientific fraternity as
well as to the students of Plant Pathology in the arena of diagnosis,
epidemiology and management of wilt diseases of various crops, the book
entitled “Wilt diseases of Crops” has been compiled with an attempt to

focus on most widely exploited wilt diseases of tomato, maize, pulses-
lentil, pigeonpea, mungbean, urdbean, chickpea, chilli, capsicum, seed

spices, economically important fruits -banana, guava, pomegranate, castor,
horticultural crop - mandarin, plantation crop – sugarcane, ornamental
crops; medicinal and ornamental crops; Bacterial wilt of tomato, potato,
cucurbit, ginger; Nematode wilt complex, Parawilt of cotton and their
management strategies. Most of the chapters have been written by scientists
who are actively involved in that specific area of research. We believe this
book will be useful to scientists, teachers, students, extension workers and
those working in the area of vascular wilt diseases of economically
important crops.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the contributors for their valuable
