Prof. Nishamani Kar is an academician at present
teaching Geography , Regional Planning and Disaster
management at Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal
Pradesh. He is a position holder in the M.Sc. of Utkal
University, Bhubaneswar and in the MRP at IIT,
Kharagpur. He has also worked as Senior Research
Fellow ( UGC ) in CSRD, SSS besides completing M.Phil
and Ph.D at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Prof. Kar has produced seventeen Ph.D scholars covering areas
like Forest Fire, Net work Anaslysis in NE India, Animal Husbandry, Rural
Development and Primitive and Vulnerable Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
A Fellow Member of ITPI, New Delhi, Prof. Kar has been working
in the field of Ecology, Envionment, Social Geography, Livestock Economy
besides Disaster management.
He has been one of the selected authors of ICSSR Research Survey
in Economic Geography. Prof. Kar is an Active researcher, analyst and
commentator and published a number of papers in Journals and edited books.
Dr. Sameer Baruah hails from Assam’s Biswanath
District and holds a graduate degree from THB College
with Geography as Honors subject and a masters degree
from Gauhati University with Fluvial Geomorphology
as Specialization. In addition, he is interested in medical
geography, agricultural geography, and rural
development. Dr. Baruah received his M.Phil and PhD
degrees from Rajiv Gandhi University in 2018 and 2022, respectively, under
the guidance of Prof. Nishamani Kar. He has published papers in peer-
reviewed, Scopus, and Web of Science journals. Furthermore, he has
delivered over 15 research papers at national and international seminars.
Dr. Baruah is currently employed as an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Geography at Moirabari College, Government of Assam.
