The untimely demise of Dr.G. Thanikaimoni has created a deep void in the science of palynology and evolution,Deeply entrenched in reseaarches on pollen analysis from a very early age,Dr. Thanikaimoni made sustained contributions which have far reaching implication an ecology,phytogeography and evolutionary stratigraphy. His multifaceted researches on palynology earned for him wide international recognition, Dr. Thanikaimoni's devotion to palynology enabled him to build and excellent centre in the French institute, pondicherry, maintaining a vast collection of materials essential for pollen studies, the multivolume series of index of pollen bibliography,used all over the world for palynological studies,is an example of his vast experience to this branch of science. He was ably assisted throughout by his wife Mrs. Thanikaimoni.
