All over the world the people particularly belonging to developing countries still rely on various "healing products" extracted from an array of medicinal plants and various well-known, ailments such as Smallpox, Malaria, Leprosy, Cancer, Gastrointestinal disorder, Heart Disease, Arterial fibrillation, Diabetes, Neurosis etc. However, only recently scientists such as Harvard Chemist, R. B. Woodward, Nobel Laureate, started unlocking the secrets of natural drugs through the molecular models of the active constituents of medicinal plants, such as antibiotics, alkaloids (emetine strychnine, quinine, concaine) glycosides, hormones, etc.

Major areas of research included in the conference cover (a) the conservation and study of wild natural populations, (b) improved cultivation methods (c) medicinal and molecular properties, (d) bacterial and fungal disease problems and biological and chemotherapeutic control. Research on (a) medicinal aspects, and (b) agronomical characteristics.

It is, therefore hoped that the deliberations will further enhance the resources of medicinal plants in making them available for the common good of the people in the achievement of health for all goals.
