My Mind and Its By-lanes, the title of this present anthology of poems is significant. In the mind of poets, different ideas, queer feelings and often some absurd or weird or even perverted sentiments may visit without rhyme and reason. A poet is in need of a rational and conscious mind to be free from all these, at least at the time when he writes a poem. A poet is also a social being. He cant go against the standard and the accepted norms and values of the society. He is in need of hiding something that comes to his mind. Every poet like an auto biographer is a liar. The second part of the title of this anthology seems to be tricky and naughty. Minds by-lanes may welcome and accommodate a lot of uneasy things which the society to which the poet belongs may not permit to be public. There are many taboos on sex, love, man and Nature, spiritual controversy and man and woman relationship in every human society. Naturally a poet has to abide by all generally. But there is hardly any compulsion in it. The work My Mind and its By-Lanes is like the work of a psychologist, and it is more than simple poetry, it is a guided tour into the reserved forests of his own consciousness. This is a work of distilled wisdom from the pen of a mature consciousness, which has contented with all the good and bad of his times. This book clearly points towards a certain sense of ripeness taking over the poet.
