Environment, development, and climate change have become emerging issues at various scales – global, regional, and local. Along with high population growth, there has been a race for economic development to meet the daily requirement. This has led to environmental degradation on a large-scale. Climate change is another issue caused by a growing population and anthropogenic-induced development activities. Now we are facing the problem of global warming and climate change, which has severe adverse implications on day-to-day life. The state of Mizoram is geologically sensitive, tectonically and seismically very active, ecologically fragile, geographically remote, and economically underdeveloped. Agriculture is the main occupation and the major source of livelihood, of which, a large arable area is devoted to shifting cultivation with low production and productivity. In terms of the availability of natural resources, they are abundant. They need to be optimally harnessed without affecting the environment. The book/proceeding ‘Mizoram: Environment, Development, and Climate change’ is a comprehensive and timely edited book, which focuses on certain areas of these three burning issues. There are a total of 14 chapters on different sub-themes contributed by the scholars of various disciplines, which present a comprehensive discussion on the aspects such as climate change, farming systems, land use, and tourism development. This book will be useful to all of those who are working on environment, development, and climate change issues, mainly in Mizoram state.
