Advanced computer technology has promoted its application in a multitude of disciplines. With regard to aquaculture the need for computer applications is immense. Nowadays, aquaculture development is considered as a vital source for the developing countries where protein shortage already exists. The success of aquacultural projects without adverse environmental effects largely depends upon the quality of the site selected for the project. There is a clear need for sustainability issues to be considered during the early planning stages for all types of aquaculture. Poor site selection and uncontrolled expansion of aquaculture units and their intensive farm practices have brought stressed ecosystems, stressed culture species, decreased production, and inferior economic performance,

The selection of optimal site in aquaculture system is based on the useful set of multiple variables. There are no published evidences to identify the useful set of variables for aquaculture development. So, the introduction of Mahalanobis Taguchi System (MTS) in dealing with the selection of useful set of variables may contribute to improve the efficiency and reduce cost of data requirements for the development of decision making process in aquaculture. Keeping this in view, the present book explains the concepts of MTS and its application in aquaculture system for identification of useful set of variables.Successful and sustainable aquaculture development depends on both the identification and classification of aquaculture sites based on the multiple variables.
