Today, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has greatly impacted every field of human
endeavours. Similarly, library and information centres are also impacted and forced to change their
collection and services as per the changing needs of the users. Now, users want quick information
and library services, which satisfies and fulfil their academic and research demands on their desired
level. Offering quality services to its member users is the utmost mandate of every library.
Therefore, it is the need of the day for every library that they must know on a frequent basis
whether their users are satisfied with their services or not. To know the users’ opinion about the
service quality of the library, concerned authorities must conduct quality surveys on a regular basis
so that the library can achieve its mandate in an efficient manner. To measure the quality of library
services, an instrument called LibQUAL+ has been used in this study, which was generated jointly by
Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and Texas A&M University Library in the year 2000.
The author has studied state agricultural and medical universities of Punjab and Haryana
state of India to explore the service quality expectations of library users. This book is based on
practical study and divided into seven chapters, which can help the library professionals, students,

researchers and other LIS stakeholders to understand the various service quality expectations of
library users of agricultural and medical universities.
