About The Book
This book provides information on role of essential nutrients in crop plants, predisposing factors for occurrence of deficiencies, risk and management strategy in major cereal crops namely rice, wheat and maize. An attempt has been made to provide scientific knowledge on the role of adverse climatic and other related factors in development of physiological disorders of major vegetable and fruit crops. Diagnostic symptoms, causes and management of each of the disorders have been described. Colour photographs greatly aid to identification. This book will prove a useful guide to undergraduate students of Agriculture & Horticulture, researchers and extension workers.
About Author
Dr. Kavita, is an Assistant Professor of Plant Physiology posted in the Department of Botany, Plant
Physiology and Biochemistry, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities under aegis of Dr. Rajendra
Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa (Bihar), India. She joined the Tirhut College of
Agriculture, Dholi in 2006 under the then Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa. She has guided
research of nine MSc students as major guide and five PhD students as co-guide. Currently, she is
working on microbes and biostimulants in mitigating abiotic stress in crops.
Dr. Sangeeta Kumari, is an Assistant Professor of Horticulture, at Agricultural Research Institute,
Patna under aegis of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bhagalpur (Bihar), India. She joined as
Assistant Professor in 2007 at the then Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar and later
transferred to BAU Sabour. She has conducted research on vegetable crops and guided research of
five MSc students. She is currently working on crop husbandry practices of exotic vegetables and
weed management in vegetable crops.
Dr. Vinod Kumar is a Principal Scientist working at ICAR-National Research Centre on Litchi,
Muzaffarpur (Bihar), India. He had joined Agriculture Research Service (ARS) in 2003. His area of
expertise has been on management of peanut diseases, mycotoxins, litchi diseases, and biocontrol
of phytopathogens. He has been awarded Fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society (FPSI), New
Delhi; Young Scientist Award, Outstanding Scientist Award, and Distinguished Scientist Award from
various professional societies for his achievement and furtherance of science. Currently, he is
working on research projects focusing on management of pre- and post-harvest diseases in litchi,
and microbial consortia for plant health management in litchi.
