About The Book

Agriculture today faces the dual challenge of meeting growing food demands while conserving resources and mitigating climate change. Agricultural Sustainability: Strategies for Organic, Climate-Smart, and Resource-Conserving Farming offers innovative solutions for resilient agricultural systems. The book explores diverse strategies, such as designing resilient horticultural crops, leveraging microbial processes for soil health, and reviving traditional millets. It emphasizes organic and climate-smart practices that conserve water, enhance soil health, and promote biodiversity, with insights into precision agriculture and regenerative farming.

The editors combined expertise has shaped this comprehensive guide, with contributions from Dr. A.R. Shravanthi, an expert in agribusiness and value chains; Dr. Jyostnarani Pradhan, who provided insights into plant physiology and microbial processes; Dr. Tulika Kumari, who enriched the economic discussions on sustainable practices; and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Meena, specializing in forestry and carbon sequestration. Their collective input ensures the integration of scientific research, practical applications, and policy implications.

The book highlights key topics like foxtail millet and bamboo plantations, both of which play crucial roles in nutrition and carbon sequestration. It also examines India’s potential for adopting resource-efficient systems through grassroots efforts and government initiatives. Aimed at researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, this volume is a valuable resource for those seeking actionable solutions for sustainable, resilient, and resource-efficient agricultural practices to ensure food security and ecological balance in the face of global environmental challenges.
