About The Book

We live in an information age that has given rise to a knowledge-based society fuelled with advances
in technology, an environment characterized by constant access to digital and online information
with an extensive automation of services provided through technology. Academic libraries have
been valued partners in the educational process serving a vital position to the positive change in
academic environment with the support of information literacy encouraging the student centered
approach to learning. Libraries now offer extensive digital collections, including e-books, online
journals and databases. Librarian play a crucial role in curating and organizing these resources,
helping patrons navigate the vast landscape effectively, they also provide support for digital literacy,
helping users develop skills needed to find, evaluate and use digital information ethically and
effectively. The book chapters provides insights into the evolving landscape of information
management and access in libraries, examining the service quality, accessibility, opportunities, and
trends in digital literacy within the digital environment.

About Author

R. K. Ngurtinkhuma, Senior Professor (Rtd), Department of Library & Information Science and
Librarian in-charge, Central Library, Mizoram University, Aizawl completed forty years of service
in the field of Library and Information Science. He published 3 books, has more than 50 research
papers published in Journals, Proceedings and Book Chapters, attended and organized numbers of
national and international seminars, workshops, conferences & training programmes on different
areas in the field; completed one Major Research Project under ICSSR; is life member of ILA,
IASLIC, IATLIS and founder member of Mizoram Library Association; 11 MPhil and 8 PhD Degrees
awarded under his guidance. He is former Head, Department of Library & Information Science; Dean,
School of Economics, Management & information Science; Member of Executive Council; Academic
Council of Mizoram University.
Lallaisangzuali obtained her MLISc (NEHU), PGDLIM (TISS, Mumbai) PhD in Library &
Information Science (MZU). She joined Mizoram University as Assistant Librarian
in 2005 and is presently working as Librarian. She had participated and presented papers in a number
of Conferences/ Seminars at the International. National and Regional level. She is also 3rd place
winner of ASIS&T SIG-III International Paper Contest in the year 2012. She is a Mortenson Center

Asssociate of the 2017 cohort in University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Her areas of Interests
are Electronic Resources, Emerging Trends, etc
Sanjeev obtained his B.A.(Hons.) Sociology, M.A. in Sociology, PhD in Sociology, B.Lib. & Inf.
Science and M.Lib.& Inf. Science from Banaras Hindu University and PhD in Library and
Information Science from Mizoram University. He served as an Assistant Librarian at Pachhunga
University College ( A Constituent College of Mizoram University) from 2005-2011. Currently, he
works as a Deputy Librarian, at Central Library, Mizoram University. He has also worked in various
capacities in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi and Hemawati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal
University, Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand before joining Pachhuna University College. He has
authored nine books, edited two as co-author, and published more than 42 papers in journals, edited
volumes, National and International seminars and conference proceedings. He has completed one
UGC-NERO Research Project on the topic ‘ Application of Information Technology in College
Libraries of Mizoram’.
David Lalchhuanawma is presently working as Information Scientist in Central Library, Mizoram
University since 2005. He obtained his B. Tech. (Computer Science &
Engineering) degree from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST)
in the year 2001. He has contributed in the implementation of Library Automation, integrating with
RFID & EM technologies and involved in all ICT related services in the Library.
B. Lalhlimpuii is an Assistant Librarian who is currently working at Central
Library, Mizoram University. Having an experience of more than a decade in
the academic library, she has been involved in various activities relating to the development of
library. She has attended various workshops, trainings, seminars and conferences. She has contributed
a number of papers published in conference proceedings, edited books and journals. She is a life
member of IASLIC.
Rohlupuii Pachuau is currently working as an Assistant Librarian (Stage- II) in Central Library,
Mizoram University (A Central University) . She has completed her M.Phil and also obtained her
PhD degree from Mizoram University in the year 2018 and was awarded Rajiv Gandhi National
Fellowship (RGNF) in 2012. She has contributed her papers to edited books
and has published articles in several peer reviewed journals and also delivered presentations on
burning issues in national and international seminars. Dr Rohlupuii Pachuau is an active life member
of ASIALA and ILA. Her area of interest includes Knowledge Management, Social media analytics,
information retrieval, e-learning and e-resource management.
