About The Book
Dynamics of Crop Disease and Their Management presents a comprehensive and interdisciplinary examination of plant diseases affecting major crops and the evolving strategies for their diagnosis, prevention, and control. Spanning 36 chapters, the book covers a broad spectrum of topics including specific crop diseases—such as apple canker, Phytophthora in citrus, nematodes in banana, and blights in soybean, safflower, and sesame—along with insights into postharvest disease management and integrated disease strategies under changing climate scenarios. It delves into emerging tools like remote sensing, forecasting models, transcriptomics, and spray-induced gene silencing (SIGS), as well as the use of salicylic acid, antimicrobial peptides, and biological agents such as Pseudomonas fluorescens and chitosan for eco-friendly disease control. Additionally, it explores plant-pathogen interactions at the molecular level, the role of chloroplasts and defense proteins in plant immunity, and the use of wild crop species as reservoirs of resistance genes. The book also addresses disease dynamics in protected and soilless cultivation systems, highlighting the latest advances and challenges in sustainable plant disease management. This volume serves as a valuable resource for researchers, plant pathologists, agronomists, students, and policy-makers engaged in modern crop protection and agricultural sustainability.
